Self taught artist, Christine remembers at age 6, being brought into the principals office joined by her Mother in the first grade, to discuss her "entrepreneurial activity." It came as a surprise to find that selling her drawn pictures of Snoopy to classmates for a quarter a piece, would be such a "big deal!" What she didn't realize, is that the children were going without their daily milk or snack at school to afford the collections...which acquainted to upset parents. Fast forward 31yrs...graduating from the school of Trial and Error with honors, Christine relies on her passion to create in her own individual way. As in life and the natural way of evolution, Christine embraces new techniques, continuously adding to the experience. Those that have experienced Christine's work, describe it as many things: Powerful, intricate, meaningful, intriguing and inspiring. The following is some of what has been said about Christine's work: ~"The work has the unusual quality of primitive emotional content tempered with sophistication....Christine's techniques imbue the work with power and subtlety- no easy feat!" ~"I never really looked at art, but now..I not only look at the painting, I FEEL it!" ~"There's a positiveness and strength I get just by looking at it. I really can't explain it any better than that." ~"I wish you could see how it makes me feel..sounds crazy..but it gives me a feeling of comfort and peace." ~"It brings a calmness to the whole room, it's AMAZING!" Driven by a love for contrast, depth and textures, it is through the use of spatulas and her hands that Christine translates her story to canvas. Inspired by her surroundings, Christine currently divides her residency between the two very diverse places of Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA. |
